Design Rationale
Atlas was commissioned after a recurring observation: architecture practices of genuine quality were presenting their work on websites that had been built quickly and not revisited. The portfolio was often the weakest asset in a firm that produced beautiful work. This template exists to close that gap.
The project page is the centre of gravity in Atlas — not the homepage. Every structural decision points toward it: the grid on the index page is optimised for the moment when a visitor selects a single project and needs to understand its context, its scale, and its material quality before scrolling down to see the photography.
Atlas is built in Webflow specifically because most architecture practices have non-technical staff managing their content. The CMS is structured to accommodate the way projects are actually documented — by typology, by year, by material — rather than the way a developer might structure a database.
